I had heard many good things about Dubai Drums but what we experienced did indeed well exceed my high expectations. The nature of the event itself is really enjoyable and uplifting. Dubai Drums visit to Rashid centre week of 17th June 2007

Dear Julie-Ann,

A group from Dubai Drums came to Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre in June of 2007, bringing drums for every child in the Centre. The communication that followed between the drummer-in-charge for the session and the children was on a level, and of a standard that was very impressive.
Communication is one of our prime aims, as many pupils are non-verbal, and so it was of tremendous benefit to the pupils here to use the skills aleady developed from our own interactive music therapy communication sessions, in a different context.
The children responded in a positive way to vocal, musical and rhymthic directions, and were involved throughout the session. Some of the skills we teach here in terms of listening and following instructions were incorporated. Turn taking, awareness of fast and slow, loud, quiet, start and stop, to name but a few more skills were also used.
Not only were the pupils enthralled, but the staff made very positive comments about pupil focus of attention and interaction between drummers and pupils. I have invited Dubai Drums to the Centre in the next academic year, and we all await the next session eagerly.

Dear Julie Ann
Just wanted to say ‘thank you ever so much for the drumming session at the college. We brainstormed the next day – what did they get out of the session etc. - of course FUN was the first comment!! Otherwise they came out with all the right language for team working – great!! Apart from that, just watching the video and seeing the pure pleasure (smiles) on their faces, is enough!! It was difficult hitting them with an IELTS listening exercise after that! Wow!

No one can deny how the Drums flared up the Party into lively and bubbly headed by Julie-ann from the 'Dubai Drums Team”. Every one had a chance to play which spirited the entire crowd and kept the event alive, everybody enjoyed playing, as well as the kids who danced and grooved to the beat of the drums… Excellent!
